Position Overview:

The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers. The coordinator ensures that volunteers are effectively integrated into hospice services to enhance patients' quality of life and support their families. This role requires a compassionate individual with excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of working in a sensitive and emotionally demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1.  Recruitment and Training:

  • Develop and implement strategies for recruiting new volunteers.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions for volunteers, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles.
  • Maintain updated records of volunteers' skills, preferences, and availability.
  • Follow all Hospice Regulations and Guidelines to meet 5% billable hours for Volunteer Hours

2.  Volunteer Management:

  • Match volunteers with patients based on the needs of the patient and the skills of the volunteer.
  • Schedule volunteers and coordinate their activities.
  • Manage multiple volunteers including providing ongoing support, guidance, and feedback to volunteers.

3.  Communication and Coordination:

  • Act as a liaison between volunteers, hospice staff, patients, and families.
  • Coordinate with other hospice staff to ensure seamless integration of volunteer services.
  • Address any issues or conflicts that arise in a timely and effective manner.

4.  Administration:

  • Keep accurate and confidential records of volunteer activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program and implement improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with hospice policies and relevant regulations.

5.  Community Outreach and Education:

  • Promote awareness of the hospice volunteer program in the community.
  • Participate in community events to recruit volunteers and educate the public about hospice services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Preferred multiple years of experience in volunteer coordination, preferably in a healthcare or hospice setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Empathy and sensitivity to the needs of hospice patients and their families.
  • Proficient in using office software and volunteer management systems.

The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. The pay range for this role in the state of Texas typically falls between $40,000 – $65,000 annually with the potential for performance-based bonuses and other benefits. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and location within the state.
