Role Summary: Hospice Registered Nurse – On-Call

Our On-Call RN/LPN team is the backbone of our hospice program during after-hours. In this role, you will respond to emerging patient and family needs, deliver exceptional symptom management, and provide emotional and educational support during vulnerable moments. Care is provided in patient homes and residential communities.

This position is ideal for a seasoned hospice nurse who brings strong clinical judgment, compassion, and the ability to guide families with confidence and calm.


Key Responsibilities

• Deliver after-hours hospice care as needs arise, ensuring timely and compassionate response.
• Provide expert pain and symptom assessment and management.
• Offer education, anticipatory guidance, and emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Navigate end-of-life decisions and ethical considerations with professionalism and empathy.
• Document care accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure holistic, coordinated care.
• Uphold high standards of practice, integrity, and patient advocacy.


Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Texas RN license in good standing.
• At least one year of recent clinical experience in medical-surgical, critical care, or similar acute environment.
• Strong clinical assessment and triage skills.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Creative, solution-oriented approach to problem solving.
• Proficiency with technology and clinical documentation systems.


Preferred Qualifications

• Prior hospice or oncology experience.
• Knowledge of the dying process and bereavement support.
• CHPN certification.
